What Is Intensive Outpatient Treatment?

Intensive Outpatient Treatment—or IOP—is a structured level of behavioral healthcare designed for individuals who need more frequent and comprehensive support than traditional outpatient services may provide.

Rather than relying on a single service, IOP brings multiple elements of care together within an individualized treatment experience.

At ThriveWell, that means creating a structured environment where clinical treatment, education, connection, skill development and personal growth can work together.

Is IOP Right for Me?

IOP may be appropriate for someone who:

  • ✓Needs more support than traditional outpatient treatment
  • ✓Is experiencing mental health symptoms that interfere with everyday functioning
  • ✓Is working through substance use or recovery-related challenges
  • ✓Experiences both mental health and substance use needs
  • ✓Is transitioning from a higher level of care
  • ✓Would benefit from consistent structure and clinical support
  • ✓Can safely participate in treatment while living in the community

The right level of care is different for everyone.

Admission into ThriveWell's IOP begins with an individualized assessment so our clinical team can better understand your needs and determine whether the program is appropriate.

Learn It Here. Live It Out There.

One of the greatest opportunities of outpatient treatment is being able to practice what you're learning while remaining connected to everyday life.

You can take new strategies into your relationships, routines and community—and bring those experiences back into treatment to reflect, adjust and keep growing.

Treatment becomes more than something you attend.
It becomes something you use.

How Long Is IOP?

There isn't one timeline that's right for everyone.

The length and intensity of treatment are based on your individual clinical needs, progress and continued medical necessity. Your treatment team evaluates your progress and adjusts recommendations as appropriate.
